ello, my name is Nikos Papadopoulos, and here is a little bit about myself:
As a child I was in a family that gave me a lot of love and encouraged my thirst for learning. At school I was lucky to have very good teachers and, under their care, I thrived.
I was aware that the world wasnt in a very good shape with all the wars, injustice and such and I wanted to do something about it.
I noticed that the so called Humanities were no more than opinions and I decided that I was going to study the Sciences in the University, so I could understand the scientific methodology, then maybe develop a scientific approach to the Humanities.
In the university, the day to day problems of studying, relationships and other group activities had a corroding effect so that, without realizing it, I started drifting away from my purposes.
Still I continued to look for answers. I was trying to decide whether I should lead a self-centered life, or should I build my life around creating a family, or should I just dedicate my life to some group.
It was at that time that I saw the offer for a free self-evaluation test. It was in a place in central London and at the window there was literally a mountain made of copies of one book. I was so curious that, while waiting for my test evaluation, I picked up the book and read the few beginning pages. And here were the answers I was looking for!
The dynamic principle of existence is Survive! And survival is carried on not only for just yourself, or for just the family, or for just a group but for the self and the family and groups and mankind as a whole.
I was delighted! Here was a kindred spirit who had found some answers and was kind enough to share them with others. His name: L. Ron Hubbard and the title of his book: Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
In this book L.Ron Hubbard introduces his discovery of the reactive mind.* The single source of aberration! I wont describe this here to you. I dont want to spoil the excitement of discovery one can get by reading this book!
I read the book but I didnt do anything else. Life continued. And it finally caught up with me. During an upset in a relationship I had, I saw myself reacting very strangely. It was the first time I have gone out of self-control and I was really shocked.
I took some holidays to Italy and to my best of luck I came across another group doing that same self-evaluation test. The test results were similar although worse than before. The person doing the evaluation spotted that my communication skills could stand some improvement and recommended I do the Communications Course.
I had never worked so persistently in my life as during that course and never had so big wins. I realized that I have been out of communication and that I had no real clue how to communicate. I could talk and write but I couldnt really communicate.
At the end of the course I was another person. Life was fun again, there were lots of people in it and I was glad to be alive!
I wanted to do more. And I came to the next thing I had to confront: the organization delivering more of these services was a Church called Church of Scientology.
I wasnt particularly religious or unreligious but I had (and still have) an aversion to rituals and to intolerance. In my experience Churches were associated with both. I also had, by birth, my own religion and didn't want to change that. On the other hand, here was a subject of tremendous practical help.
I decided to find more about Scientology. I bought the book What is Scientology and read it from front to cover. I found out that Scientology doesnt want to change anyones religious beliefs, as it is non-denominational. I found out that it is not stuck on rituals and as for religious intolerance, it is the most vociferous advocate of the exact opposite: tolerance religious or otherwise.
But I didnt just read books. I did more courses and participated in other activities organized or sponsored by Scientology.
In the 20 years I have been in contact with Scientology I have found that the Church and its members value spiritual freedom and strive to achieve it, that Scientologists are normal people like anyone else and that the subject of Scientology is meant to be studied and applied. I have found that people can be happy, that solutions to lifes problems exist and will produce results when exactly applied. I also found that there is more to our spiritual potential than we have ever been allowed to hope for.
I am now doing well myself, have a successful marriage, enjoy my work and participate in actions to help create a better social environment here on earth.
But the biggest win of all is that I have found at last a subject that has a scientific approach to the humanities, that leads to spiritual freedom by helping you being more and more free and by allowing to think for yourself all the way through.
I thought that others may benefit from my experiences with it and thats the reason for this web
site.
*Reactive mind: that part of a persons mind which is not under his volitional control and which exerts force and the power of command over his awareness, purposes, thoughts, body and actions.
