At the age of 38, I was hopelessly hooked on drugs and alcohol. I had been drinking and using drugs since the age of seventeen. Everything I had tried failed. I also had a failed marriage and was separated from my three children from that marriage. In October of 1989, I read Dianetics. The book gave me hope that something could be done about my condition and that maybe I could be happy without the use of drugs and alcohol.

     I was completely broke at the time (I spent everything I earned on drugs and alcohol). I went to the Church of Scientology at Columbus Ohio. There one of the staff members sold me a book by L. Ron Hubbard called Self-Analysis. This staff member showed me a vitamin reference by L. Ron Hubbard about the importance vitamins play in getting a person off drugs and introduced me to a “Guk Bomb,” a vitamin concoction that L. Ron Hubbard developed to help people in getting off drugs.

     I took the book Self Analysis home and read it. At the end of the book are lists that one can use to counsel ones‘ self. I used those lists every day, and never took drugs again.

     It wasn’'t long until I was earning more money and able to do major Scientology services. One of the first things I did was the Purification Rundown. I couldn’t believe how much drug residue had accumulated in my body, but also, I couldn’t believe how good I felt once the drugs were out of my system. I took on a whole new positive outlook on life, found a new wife and continued with my Scientology training.

     I have also gotten back in touch with my children and now enjoy a close and positive relationship with them. My oldest son recently came to live with me so he and I could develop our father-son relationship. Immediately after my second son also came to stay with me. My ex-wife and I enjoy a cordial relationship and can work together on helping our children rather than fighting and blaming each other for how screwed up things became while we were married.

     I now spend a lot of time helping others get into Scientology. I know that Scientology has the answers to life, and can help anyone improve their life.
