I got involved with Scientology in 1977. At the time I was a semi-drug addict, meaning I had nothing better to do and if I wanted to meet any girls I had to be pretty loaded.
Being a product of the public school system I didnt really learn anything after the third grade. So my life as a transmission remove and replace man wasnt going to get much better.
This was not the life I wanted to live and I felt I could do better in life if I knew how.
I looked at other practices, i.e. yoga, eastern philosophy and western religion. I did and still do believe in the existence of a supreme being but I could not see how any of the above beliefs changed my way of dealing with the day to day world.
Then I got a job in a shop with a Scientologist owner. For a year I listened to weird stories from the non-Scientologist mechanics. But even as a druggy I noticed that the Scientologists were communicative, seemed happy (happier than me) and were not on drugs and alcohol.
Well, that convinced me to at least try the Communication Course. Well I found what I was looking for. A practical way to handle the things I wanted to handle.
I wanted to communicate, have a girlfriend, get somewhere in life, in general be happy, all without the via of drugs and alcohol.
Now all of my original reasons for being involved with Scientology have been fulfilled. But the game of life always brings new challenges and with Scientology the game just gets bigger.
My wife is a successful executive which has enabled me to work full time on my music, writing and running the kids around to all their extra curricular activities. I cant think of a better game for myself.
In the past 21 years Ive taken two drops of Childrens Tylenol. That is the truthful extent of my drug intake. Although I love the taste of beer I dont drink it because I dont like the alcohol feeling. You can see why the drug companies dont like Scientology.
Scientology has given me the TOOLS to deal with everyday life. Every possible problem that is posed on talk shows can be handled and is handled daily in Scientology. I have also gotten rid of feelings and thoughts that went on in my own head that kept me from doing the things I really wanted to do. This basically sums up how these people using techniques exactly how L. Ron Hubbard describes have helped me out. And with those same techniques I am able to help out myself and others.
This technique is called Scientology.
