The first time I experienced Scientology was in 1986 when my Mother took me to the nearest Organization. My Mom was continually trying New self -help type things, and I was extremely skeptical. I was sixteen at the time and convinced this was another one of Moms fruitless excursions. She was receiving Dianetics auditing (counseling), and had my brother (eighteen) and I do a couple of courses. To my surprise, we had an amazing time on the Success Through Communication Course! Three people who had been faithfully observing an unwritten No-Talk rule in our household were suddenly actually speaking to one another and being a family. I also took the Personal Values and Integrity Course, which rehabilitated my ability to be honest (with myself as well as others).
I then went on to College where I realized I had skills others didnt! I found people could not communicate and that these were actual skills! I also realized that I didnt have one very important skill, I had been a straight - A student for as long as I could remember. I never had to study. In college, theres no getting around it! I couldnt study! I didnt know how! I had always memorized everything without truly learning. I became determined and really buckled down, but, I had no friends! I discovered very unethical behavior on campus and began to think that I was the only person there with the intention to learn! I left after one year because I felt I didnt fit in. I then got a job being a Life guard. I was nineteen and really hadnt wanted to leave school.
I loved learning Theatre and English and I missed my education. I looked into going back to school at the local Community College. It was $473 for the courses only. Then Id have to buy another $143 worth of books. On a lifeguards pay, no way. I felt I was spinning my wheels at my job and in life and had no solution. I wasnt happy and knew I must be causing it somehow, other people were happy.
A Minister from the local Church of Scientology called me one day and asked me how I was doing. I told him, and he suggested that I go down there and do the Introduction to Scientology Ethics Course. I did the course.
That course changed my life completely. I realized what I really wanted to do in life and set about doing it. I quit my job, and got a better one. I saved money for two years and moved to Los Angeles where I am doing exactly what I have always wanted to do. I am so happy that people often ask me where I got it. Interesting that money isnt really what people are really after. Its happiness! I now live in Hollywood where I am a successful Stand-up Comic. I produce my own show called Comedy Girlfriends which has been at the World Famous Comedy Store! I learned how to study in Scientology and now write as well as perform! With Scientology, I not only understand and can confront and control my own life, but, I can help others do the same.
